Tour Down Under 2009

In January 2009 year, Mud, Sweat & Gears entered a team of 45 in the Tour Down Under Mutual Community Challenge Tour.

The team included a wide range of ages, from 11 year old Nicholas, to 82 year old Laurie.

There were 9 who braved the 155km ride from Burnside, 26 Mt Pleasant (97km) starters and 10 Angaston (32km) cyclists.

We were pleased to include some overseas visitors in our team: Simon & Carolyn from England and Ron from the USA. It was their first time cycling in the Adelaide Hills.

It was a fantastic ride through some stunning Adelaide Hills scenery. South Australian cycling at its best!

We’re not nearly as fast as Lance Armstrong, but as you can see from our video, we had a lot of fun and are looking forward to next year’s Tour Down Under Challenge Tour.

During the lead up to the Tour Down Under, Channel 9’s A Current Affair did a story on Adelaide cyclists, including our very own Laurie.
